U.S. SEC’s Crypto Enforcer David Hirsch Quits

David Hirsch, chief of the crypto asset unit in the SEC’s enforcement division, has left his position.

Hirsch announced his decision in a post on LinkedIn without specifying what his next professional step would be.

David Hirsch, senior member of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s crypto oversight unit, shared a post on LinkedIn on Monday.

Hirsch was chief of the cryptoasset and cyber unit at the U.S. SEC Enforcement Division.

“Last Friday was my last day in the SEC after almost 9 years,” Hirsch said in his post. “I am particularly proud of the historic work done by the CryptoAssets and Cyber ​​Unit team that I have the privilege of leading.”

Hirsch was the SEC’s crypto enforcer against cryptocurrency exchanges and decentralized finance (DeFi) projects. He has previously acknowledged that the agency’s current caseload is heavy and that the SEC can’t go after everything, but that it is likewise not done pursuing people it deems violating securities laws.

“Every success I have been a part of has been a direct result of collaboration and joint efforts toward a common goal,” Hirsch added.

Hirsch did not say what his next professional goal would be, but said he would “share more information about it soon.”
