The cryptocurrency market is going through an interesting phase. Some altcoins are pulling ahead, breaking away from the dominance of Bitcoin, which is currently consolidating around $97,000. The total market capitalization is about $3.56 trillion.
The price of Bitcoin is around $97,000
The price of Bitcoin has seen considerable volatility over the past week, dropping to a low of nearly $90,000 at one point before recovering and forming a V-shaped recovery.
Yesterday, the bulls tried to push it towards $99,000, but were unable to do so. The price is currently around $96,700, which has been consolidating over the past few hours.
It will be interesting to see whether or not buyers can make another shot at the coveted $100,000 level or if we will see another correction.

As mentioned above, however, Bitcoin’s dominance, the metric used to measure its share of the rest of the market, has been declining. It has declined more than 3% in the last seven days alone and currently stands at around 53%. This means that altcoins have outperformed Bitcoin.
