Essential tips for Pi network users facing KYC verification challenges

TL;DR

The Pi Network requires 15 million users to pass KYC and migrate to the mainnet by January 31st. Users would need to complete live checks and sign a specific token acknowledgment to get approved. The project has become increasingly popular, which explains why scammers often target the community. To avoid bad actors, users should only trust official Pi Network channels and use the designated Pi browser to access Pi Wallet. Users should take these necessary actions

More than five years have passed since the birth of Pi Network, but the community is still waiting for the release of its native token and open mainnet.

The team previously stated that the first major milestone before these developments is the introduction of the open network. To see the light of day, the project requires 15 million users to pass the necessary Know-Your-Customer (KYC) checks and migrate to the main network (known as the grace period) before January 31.

Earlier this year, Pi Network announced that it is making “excellent progress,” with more than 9 million successful migrations.

However, many members of the community have complained of problems completing the procedures. In this regard, the team issued an important guide that could be of help to those who need it.

The developers claimed that people’s long wait for full KYC and migration results “may be caused by your need to complete actions.” They said some pioneers have to pass additional vividness checks to “make sure the video is clear in good lighting.”

“When the mining app prompts you for these additional liveness checks, please complete the liveness checks and do not close the popup. Sign the token acknowledgment even if you are still waiting for your KYC results , as it is necessary for anyone to be able to migrate to Mainnet anyway,” the advice says.

Other users must secure their accounts as required in the main network checklist. To do this, they should check the application and take the necessary steps when prompted to receive the final KYC results and prepare for the migration as soon as possible.

Beware of these scams

Pi Network remains one of the most controversial projects in the cryptocurrency industry, but that doesn’t stop it from growing in popularity. Last month, its app passed the major milestone of 100 million downloads.

The project is particularly popular in Asia, creating strong community bases in nations such as China, Vietnam, South Korea, India, Singapore, Japan and others.

However, the increased prominence could be one of the reasons why scammers often target members of their community. To protect users, Pi Network issued two critical warnings.

First, they advised people to trust only information shared through official channels. Additionally, the developers created a dedicated security page with verified sources and URLs.

Second, they warned users to access their Pi wallets exclusively through the designated Pi browser. “Make sure you’re on the correct Pi Wallet, not a fake one, to protect your Pi. The real Pi Wallet is also visually identified by a purple color in the Pi browser navigation bar with a Pi logo with the Core Team apps logo,” the alert says.
