Bitcoin and Crypto Go Unmentioned During Trump-Musk X Space

The interview between Elon Musk and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump reached over 1 million listeners on X.

The topic of cryptocurrency was not mentioned during the event, which lasted about two hours.

Former President Donald Trump did not mention Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies during his interview with X CEO Elon Musk on Monday evening.

The interview, which lasted over two hours, covered many topics including illegal immigration, the economy, artificial intelligence and global warming.

The interview attracted more than 1 million listeners and was delayed more than 45 minutes due to what Musk called a “big issue.” [distributed denial of service] “Attack on X”.

“As this massive attack has shown, there is a lot of opposition to people hearing what President Trump has to say,” Musk said of the alleged attack.

A report from The Verge called this into question, but a source told the publication that this was not the case and that there was a “99 percent chance Musk was lying” about the attack. An alert from cybersecurity watchdog Netblocks said X Spaces was experiencing international outages, but it has not been confirmed whether this was a DDOS attack.

On Polymarket, bettors said there was a 65% chance that “crypto” would be mentioned during the interview, with more than $600,000 in bets placed on the topic. The prediction market also added another market to ask bettors about the likelihood of “bitcoin” being mentioned, which came in at 69% with around $330,000.

If the predictions are correct, each share pays $1 in USDC, a stablecoin or cryptocurrency that trades at par with the U.S. dollar, and zero if they are not.

Polymarket does not list markets for other digital assets such as ether, solana, or dogecoin.

Bettors had wagered over $250,000 on Trump mentioning the word “Tesla,” with the odds going up by as much as 79%. However, Trump sidestepped the specific word by saying “your cars” when referring to Musk’s electric vehicle brand.

Other words bettors bet on that Trump said in the X area included “MAGA,” “illegal immigrant” and “tampon.”

A user named ‘Bama1234’ won just over $1 million by betting on the most words Trump said or didn’t say during the interview.

Of all the words, the biggest share was Trump not saying “crypto,” which led to Trump withdrawing $336,918.

The user did not correctly bet on Trump saying “MAGA” during the interview; Trump said it earlier in the interview; or correctly bet on “Trans,” which he thought Trump would say but the Republican candidate did not say at the end.

While cryptocurrency has become an election issue with Trump attending the BTC 2024 conference in Nashville to explain crypto policy, it still has not been mentioned in mainstream events such as the first presidential debate in June.
