Helio revamps crypto payments for Shopify with Solana Pay

Helio has launched a new Solana Pay plugin to provide cryptocurrency payments to millions of Shopify merchants.

Payment firm Web3 announced the update on Thursday, noting that the enhanced features now offer broader token support, enhanced loyalty programs and seamless integration for users.

Helio launches upgraded Solana Pay plugin

According to Helio, the number of unique active wallets available is over 350,000 and there are over 5,000 merchants.

Therefore, the update to the Solana Pay plugin is such an improvement that millions of Shopify merchants will be able to easily accept crypto payments across hundreds of crypto assets.

With the upgrade, Shopify merchants using the Solana Pay plugin can now accept crypto and benefit from real-time conversion and payment via stablecoins. These include Circle’s USDC and EURC and PayPal’s PYUSD. The plugin also supports Ondo Finance’s tokenized USDY note.

Solana Pay also integrates with top wallets like Phantom, Solfire, Coinbase, and OKX.

Helio believes the update has the capacity to help “millions of merchants engage in crypto trading” and completely transform e-commerce payments.

Improvements in user experience and the development of customer loyalty programs are an important aspect of this growth. Solana stands out as the ideal blockchain network for this trend.

“Crypto holders represent a rapidly growing global consumer segment with over 100 million active wallets. Stijn Paumen, co-founder and CEO of Helio, said Solana is ideal for consumer payments with its low fees and fast transactions. “

“Shopify merchants can now easily reach this audience by installing Solana Pay with a few simple clicks and accepting USDC and hundreds of other digital assets at low fees. Enabling the largest e-commerce platform to accept crypto payments faster than card is an important step towards mass adoption of crypto payments,” Paumen added.

Merchants benefit from low-fee crypto payments

Adoption of the plugin has increased due to growth in the Web3 payments industry, especially the stablecoin market. Interest may now rise again with the update allowing advanced features such as NFTs, loyalty programs, vouchers, and tickets.

Solana Pay, which allows Shopify merchants to accept low-fee crypto payments (0.75% fee), processed approximately $50 million in transactions in its previous version.

The transactions spanned 200 stores and saved sellers more than $1 million in fees, according to Helio.

Brands currently using the new Solana Pay plugin include Helium Mobile and FSL (STEPN GO, MOOAR).
