Former US President Donald Trump has announced his intention to ensure that cryptocurrency donations are accepted for his campaign donations.
Trump is the Republican candidate in the upcoming United States presidential election scheduled for November 2024.
Trump Pushes Crypto Donations
In several video clips posted on X by Frank Degods, a creator and influencer of non-fungible tokens, Trump addressed his NFT buyers during a meeting where he met with those who bought his “Mugshot Edition” collection on your day off from the test.
Attendees had purchased more than 47 NFTs individually, each priced at $99. In his speech, Trump mentioned“We did it when NFTs weren’t hot. We made NFTs hot again.”

As for his campaign, Trump said that if his supporters can’t donate in crypto, he’ll make sure they do. Trump also hit back at President Joe Biden’s alleged lack of understanding of cryptography. So crypto supporters should vote for him.
When asked about the possibility of retaining crypto businesses in the United States, Trump reiterated his commitment to do so. He stressed that if crypto companies want to relocate due to hostility towards the sector, he will work to prevent their exit. He added that if cryptography was to be adopted, it should remain in the country.
The coin for the “Jeo Boden” meme, a playful token inspired by US President Joe Biden, surged more than 45% according to CoinGecko data after Trump mentioned the token.
After learning that the BODEN token reached a market capitalization of $240 million, Trump expressed his skepticism. He said that was a lot of money for a coin, adding that he didn’t like the investment.
Trump’s evolving support for Crypto
Electric Capital co-founder Avichal Garg has expressed his admiration for what he perceives as an evolution in Trump’s stance on crypto. Garg congratulated whoever had advised him was doing an outstanding job. Garg added that if President Biden maintains an anti-crypto stance, crypto sentiment could shift from anti-Gary Gensler, the chairman of the US Securities and Exchange Commission, to anti-Biden and even anti- democrats
In late 2022, Trump acquired his first crypto tokens after launching the Trump Digital Trading Cards non-fungible token (NFT) collection. This project leveraged Trump’s identity, likeness, and branding to distribute 45,000 NFTs, each priced at $99.
Trump earned royalties from the initial sale and a percentage of trading volumes in the secondary market. The project has been very successful relative to the broader NFT market, with a minimum price currently exceeding $200.
