Bitcoin whale moved $43m in BTC for 1st time in 10 years

A Bitcoin whale that had been dormant for over 10 years moved 687 BTC worth $43 million.

According to Lookonchain data, the whale bought 687.33 Bitcoin (BTC) on January 12, 2014; This amount was worth around $630,000 at the time, when the price of BTC was $917.

Ten years later, the value of Bitcoin has increased almost 70 times compared to the current price at which the user sold Bitcoin for over $42.7 million.

In April, large investors controlling at least 0.1% of the total Bitcoin supply purchased 19,760 BTC for a total of $1.2 billion at an average purchase price of $62,500.

The accumulation of funds on these addresses usually occurred before the increase in the price of the first cryptocurrency. Bitcoin whales bought assets two days before the halving.

Additionally, Santiment noted that Bitcoin whales have accumulated another 266,000 BTC worth $17.3 billion since the beginning of 2024.

Asset holders with balances between 1,000 BTC and 10,000 BTC received 1.24% of the total supply of 21 million BTC during the period in question.
